The Big50 selection process has become increasingly rigorous in recent years, and the result, we believe, is one of the strongest classes to date. This year’s inductees are not all “big” by any stretch — the honor is bestowed on companies of all sizes — but they all stood up to detailed examination of their businesses’ financial performance, and they all demonstrated an admirably deft ability to restructure, retrench, and flat-out hustle to remain viable in an extremely difficult economic climate.
