Meet the Owners

Duane Johns

Duane entered the construction industry working on oceanfront estates in The Hamptons on Long Island, New York. His extensive experience with many aspects of high-end construction from carpentry, millwork and cabinetry to painting and home repair helped him cultivate a keen eye for craftsmanship and great appreciation for the skilled trades.

In 1996 he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, with his wife Stacy. After a successful stint with a local remodeling company, he discovered a kindred spirit in Roger Ketchum and soon partnered with him to form Advanced Renovations.

Duane is active with industry trade organizations and is a strong advocate for professionalism in the remodeling industry. He previously served on the board of directors for NARI of Greater Charlotte and is currently on the board of directors for the Lake Norman Home Builders Association and LKN Remodelers Council.

Duane is very active in his spare time as well, enjoying spending time with his two children as well as playing basketball and golf and engaging in a wide array of outdoor activities.

Roger Ketchum

Roger began his career in construction as a teenager in upstate NY working on log cabins for his uncle. After graduating high school, he built his own apartment in a building owned by his father, and soon thereafter constructed a similar one as a rental – and thus a passion for creating extraordinary living spaces was born.

Roger’s natural knack for all things building and renovation next led him to work as a carpenter, where he gained valuable hands-on experience in both commercial and residential building and remodeling. In 1994 he and his family moved to Matthews, North Carolina, where he took a job with a repair and remodeling company. Three years later, he teamed up with Duane Johns to found Advanced Renovations – the culmination of a lifelong dream to make each project he takes on the best it can be.
